Comfort for Children

by MSO

“There’s just something about a teddy bear that’s impossible to explain. When you hold one in your arms, you get a feeling of love, comfort and security. It’s almost supernatural” James Ownby

Most memorial gifts to a person when their loved one has died are not very suitable for children. It is hard for a child to truly appreciate a flower or a necklace as a memorial gift representing someone  close who has died in their life.

A business from Ottawa, Ontario has begun manufacturing a teddy bear, called a Comfort Cub, that is specially designed as a token for a child to gently love. The Comfort Cub has a chest pocket and a locket. The chest pocket can be used to hold a small token of affection to be treasured for a lifetime, and the locket can hold a small lock of hair, a tiny amount of cremated remains or any memento from the site of the burial.

The Comfort Cub is marketed towards any two people who have been detached, which includes but is not limited to the death of a loved one. Other uses that the Comfort Cub company lists on their website include the separation of two friends or children of suddenly divorced parents. The Comfort Cub is a loving token that will be treasured throughout a lifetime – it is not simply a teddy bear, but unique and loveable memorial gift.
