Decorating Your Loved One’s Grave Site

by MSO

Make sure to ask the cemetery's permission before you do any extensive landscaping.

Decorating a cemetery plot is a nice way to show respect for a loved one who has passed away. Visiting the grave site helps us to remember our loved ones and think about how they influenced our lives. Flowers are commonly used to decorate gravesides but there are other options. A bird feeder, a small tree or shrub, framed photo, a cross, or a flag are all good ideas. If your loved one was a festive person who loved the holidays you can also spice things up on occasions like birthdays, Christmas, Halloween, or Thanksgiving.

One thing to keep in mind before you start decorating the grave site is to check with the cemetery about their rules. They have the right to regulate how their property appears.
