Although the solar heat in the crematorium reaches 700‚àûF it is still not as hot as a regular crematorium so it will take longer to cremate a body and the cremains will be made up of larger particles.

The world’s first solar crematorium opened in Gujarat, India. The idea of using the giant ball of fire to burn things has come to people in the past, but using a magnifying glass to burn ants just isn’t the same. The crematorium uses special reflectors to heat the cremation chamber to very high temperatures.

The project is the result of many donors coming together to see the green vision of cremation brought to life. With this alternative, the 200-300 kg of wood used in a single cremation is saved, and pollutants like gas aren’t set into the atmosphere.
