Man Jumps to His Death from World’s Tallest Building

The Burj Khalifa is 828 meters or 2,717 feet high.

The Burj Khalifa building in Dubai, holds a few records, among them the tallest building in the world, the highest occupied floor and the elevator with the longest travel distance and the fastest speed (it takes one minute to get to the top floor with the elevator’s 64 kilometers per hour speed). It also has 160 floors which has not been equaled since the Twin Towers was built in New York City. There’s even a mosque on the 158th floor.

Now add the first suicide to that list. On May 10, 2011 a man jumped from the 147th floor of the building. The man landed on the 108th floor terrace after leaping from an air vent. He was an employee who worked for a company based in the building and had apparently just asked for time off and was denied.
