Some people are pronounced dead when a pulse is so faint that it cannot be detected by a heart monitor.

Some people like surprises, particularly the family mourning a death in Taiwan. At a Buddhist mourning hall the family of an 87 year-old man were taking part in prayer readings over his body when he woke up gasping for air.

The family rushed him back to hospital where he was being treated prior to his death. The medical team at the hospital had told the family previously that the only thing keeping the man alive was the oxygen hoses. If removed he would soon die after.

The family made the decision to discharge him and bring him home to pass away peacefully. After his death, the family dressed him in funeral attire and brought him to the mourning hall.

Doctors were astonished with his recovery.
